My Feathered Friend

This morning I just happened to be in my office when my feathered friend, the Roadrunner, just happened to start pecking at my window. I also just happened to have my camera sitting beside me. I slowly picked it up and started taking some pictures. After clicking off about six I realized he really wasn't too bothered by me. He was jumping around so much that most were a bit blurry. Since he really likes hanging around our house I should have a few more chances for some better pics.

Florida Frenzy

Just back from 8 days in sunny Florida and yes in deed, it's definitely spring break. The beaches were pretty crazy and also a little cool. Nothing like walking down the beach in a turtleneck while everyone else is in bathing suits. We were able to do some up close gator viewing...glad they're not like the crocs in Australia...and had some great seafood and fish. Good to be back to the normal exercise routine.

The Critters are Active

Spring has hit the desert and all the critters are out and about. We've seen quite a few coyote, this morning I saw a Javelina and her baby, and a few days ago our resident Roadrunner was sitting on the ledge to my office pecking at the window. Quail are scurrying about off the west patio and some mischievous critter keeps stealing my flip flops. I was able to find the first one out in the shrubbery, but the one they stole this morning from the other side of the house is yet to be located. I'm thinking it's a Packrat that has hauled it off . We'll see if I ever find this one.

Warm Water

Hooray, they've started heating the pool at the club again. I've really missed swimming laps and my body really needed to start up again. They keep it at a wonderful temperature between 82-84 degrees. Just heavenly. I was actually using the pool to ice my right calf after runs as it's been acting up. It was so cold that it was just as good as an ice pack. It took about 3 days to get it to the current temp.

Christmas

It's strange to think of Christmas plans when it's only March, but I spent half the day arranging our travel. It's a "my side of the family" get together this year with the 8 from Australia and the 12 from the USA all meeting in Hawaii. It was amazing to think that I booked 2 of the last 3 seats on our flights....glad I didn't procrastinate. Many more flights were available, but more expensive and with much worse flight times. When December rolls around I'll be glad to escape all the heavy traffic and know that I'll be able to spend 10 days with my sisters and all the extended offspring. We'll even have a relatively new baby to celebrate. Meanwhile I'm knitting up a storm and turning into a shawl nut. I'm also knitting socks where I have to provide the pattern instead of the yarn. I think my fingers are in really good shape!
